WorkNet Youth Programs

Student Employment and Training Program (STEP)

SJC WorkNet partnered with Department of Rehabilitation (DOR)

The STEP program provides students with disabilities, ages 16 to 21, who are enrolled in school and have an IEP or 504 plan, the opportunity to gain paid work readiness training and valuable on-the-job experience.

  • SJC WorkNet handles payroll and covers the cost of participants’ wages and workers’ compensation insurance.
  • Each STEP participant may work up to 325 hours during the program year, earning at least minimum wage.
  • By hosting STEP participants, your business supports the community, promotes Equal Opportunity, and upholds ADA compliance.
  • STEP participants assist with entry-level tasks, giving you the opportunity to train, mentor, and evaluate potential future employees for your workforce.

Partnering with STEP is a meaningful way to invest in tomorrow's talent while supporting inclusivity and diversity at your workplace.
